Life before flying – An Interview with Emirates Cabin Crew
Straight off a flight, Emirates Cabin Crew Justine joins us to reveal her life before flying and an insider’s perspective on the interview process
What did you do before you became Cabin Crew?
I worked as a Front Desk supervisor at a hotel based in Sydney, where I am originally from. This gave me great customer service experience which is essential for Cabin Crew.
Why did you apply to Emirates Airline?
I honestly didn’t feel fulfilled with my job and life in general. I yearned for a bigger challenge for myself. I felt there was something more I could get out of life, and when I found out about Emirates I saw it as an answer to take the challenge on.
It’s also no secret that I have always been passionate about travelling.
What were the challenges you faced when applying?
I experienced constant self-doubt. I felt like it was crazy to be giving up my whole life in Australia, and move abroad, so far away from family and friends, to a place I’ve never been, and not know anyone.
Applying to Emirates was a whole process because everything had to be done online. From getting all the medicals done, getting your photos and having to upload everything onto the Candidate Portal.
It was a very different experience!
Do you have any advice about the interview process? What was your experience?
Seeing all the other girls made me doubt myself. It was a lot of pressure having to make sure you stand out from everyone else! Especially because the first round of activities you had like 2-3 minutes to answer the question and make sure you stood out and made a lasting impression!
