Before you apply
You’ll need to have a copy of your current Cabin Crew CV – make sure it’s up to date!
It’s always best to update your CV and tailor it to the position and airline you’re applying for – this is your ‘first impression’, so to speak, so make it a good one!
Always save a copy of your CV in MS Word or PDF format, as these are the most commonly accepted file types.
Step 1 –The Application Form
Check our Cabin Crew Jobs Board or the careers section of Lufthansa’s website to access the position that you want to apply for.
Read the Lufthansa job description carefully – this lists all of the qualifications and requirements that the airline is looking for.
Please note that depending on the position you are applying for the online form will be in German, as Lufthansa expects their crew based in Germany to be fluent in both English and German languages.
You’ll then need to register on the Lufthansa jobs portal to apply, and will be asked to fill out your personal details and take an English language test.
Step 2 – The Assessment Day
If the recruitment team like the look of your application you’ll receive an email inviting you to the next stage – the assessment day. This is usually held at Lufthansa’s base in Frankfurt.
Due to the volume of applications the airline receives this may take a little time to be sent, so don’t panic if it seems to be taking a while!
The Lufthansa Cabin Crew assessment day is essentially a group interview. You might feel a bit anxious, especially if you haven’t attended one of these kinds of events before.

You’ll be informed of the date, time and location, and the day can last up to 8 hours.
Typically the assessment day will include:
You’ll have the chance to ask existing crew any questions you might have during the day too!
There will usually be various ‘cuts’ of candidates during the day, following the group exercises. But if you make it through you’ll be allocated a one to one interview slot. This might take place on the same day or if there are a lot of candidates they may allocate you a slot on another date.
If you don’t make it through to the interview stage try not to be too upset. You’ve already done really well just making it through to the assessment day stage!
Step 3 – The Interview
This interview will normally last around 30-40 minutes and contains more questions to assess your suitability for the role. It gives you the opportunity to prove yourself to the recruiters and give detailed answers to show that you have the skills that they are looking for.
Preparation is key here.
This is your big chance to convince the recruiters that YOU are the person that the airline wants on their crew. It’s never too early to get ready.
Remember to bring all your documentation to the interview – don’t worry, the airline will give you a list by e-mail of exactly what you need to bring along.
Following the interview your whole application and performance will be considered. Airlines tend to get back to their applicants fairly quickly for an answer, so the wait shouldn’t be too long!
There are a few checks that the airline needs to carry out before they can officially offer you employment.
The checks will include following up references, criminal record checks, your financial history and your work background for the last five years (including any gaps).
You’ll also be asked to have a basic medical examination carried out to ensure that you’re fit to fly.
Following this, if the checks are successful, you’ll be given a date to begin your pre-flight training!
