Virgin Atlantic to Quadruple it’s Indian-based Cabin Crew
Virgin Atlantic has been operating in India for nearly a quarter of a century. And recent developments indicate that the airline’s presence in the country will expand significantly in the near future.
While the airline is perhaps best known for connecting Britain with the United States, India is becoming an increasingly valuable market for Virgin, becoming their primary area of growth outside of the U.S..
This week, the company unveiled intentions to double its flights between London Heathrow and Mumbai, with October 27, heralding the launch of a second daily service. Additionally, the carrier offers double-daily flights to Delhi and a service to Bengaluru which launched at the end of March.
The decision to add another Mumbai flight underscores Virgin’s ongoing commitment to the region. By next year, the airline aims to offer over a million seats annually to and from India representing a 350% increase compared to 2019. This growth not only accommodates passenger traffic but also allows for expanded cargo services.
The great news for potential crew? Virgin Atlantic is increasing its recruitment of local cabin crew to accommodate it’s planned growth. The airline plans to quadruple the number of Indian-based flight attendants operating on its India routes for the upcoming summer season, aiming to offer a more personalised service to passengers in the region.
Despite India’s rapid aviation expansion, it remains relatively underserved according to Indian aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. He noted that with projections of domestic passenger numbers reaching 635 million by 2030, India is an under-served market with significant potential for other airlines.
With it’s rich tapestry of captivating history, breath taking landscapes, vibrant cities and delicious cuisine India will be a popular choice for passengers and crew looking for new adventures and cultural experiences.
