Reasons why you should be on LinkedIn as Cabin Crew
LinkedIn is definitely the giant of the recruitment world when it comes to social networking, but why should you consider using it if you want to be or already are Cabin Crew?
1Over 90% of recruiters use LinkedIn along with CVs to vet candidates when they’re making their final hiring decisions. If you have a strong profile it could sway things in your favour!
2It can enhance your CV. When you’re writing your crucially important cabin crew CV you’ll generally have to make decisions about what to include and what to leave out.
However you can add other relevant achievements and skills to the relevant sections on your LinkedIn profile, and put a link to your profile in your CV along with your contact details.
3For existing Cabin Crew it’s a great way to network and connect with other crew and airline staff – it’s always helpful to have these connections as you never know how they might help you out in the future!
4There are groups you can join for people in your career. Again this can help you to build up your connections but they’re also a place where you can ask questions and share information.
5It’s easy to update and maintain your account with the LinkedIn app. You can also check messages, posts by your connections and activity in the groups you follow.
6You can get previous or current employers and colleagues to ‘endorse’ your skills on your profile, and recommend you as a fantastic crew member – providing written proof of how good you are at your job.
7Some airlines are starting to use an ‘apply via LinkedIn’ feature. You can upload a copy of your CV and save it on your profile, and this will get sent along with the link to your profile.
It’s a handy option if you’re away from home and don’t have access to files on your computer, but your dream airline opens up for recruitment!
Sometimes you can feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the different social media and networking sites on offer – knowing which ones are helpful and how to use them.
Social networking can be a great asset if used wisely however! In some cases it can even help you out when it comes to recruitment.
It’s best to think of LinkedIn as a way to emphasise your CV, where you can expand on your list of skills and achievements.
Your CV itself really needs to be spot on – this is the first impression the recruitment team will generally get of you, and the main source of their information about you.
